We’ve worked with ICL to develop an Online quiz (link here) to help support you guys and girls out there spraying – in this blog series I intend to go through each question, give you an in depth answer and a few useful links.
How do you measure nozzle output?
- Place measuring cylinder under nozzle for 1 minute
- Nozzle colour
- Pressure gauge
- Test and compare to chart
To measure nozzle output you should place a measuring cylinder under the nozzle for 60 seconds and measure the total water that came out during that period. This should be done on all nozzles on a regular basis and is a really good use of the operators’ time. If time is limited, then the measuring time can be reduced to 30 seconds and output doubled.
Any differences between nozzles can highlight a problem. This could be related to the balancing of the booms, different levels of nozzle wear, a damaged nozzle or blockage issue.
