Acelepryn – Turf Application Advice 2020 update

It's highly likely that you're sat on your Acelepryn right now looking for the late summer Cranefly hatch.

Improving your application of this product will help you get the very best out of this product and we've put together a number of tips to help you with that.

  1. Apply preventatively - our studies show that applying preventatively will give better control than using it curatively.
  2. Apply when peak numbers are observed - By applying when you see high numbers of the target pest you can be very confident the product will be at its highest concentration when the young pests are at their most susceptible. Remember though that this year the emergency Authorisation limits use after 31st October 2020.
  3. Mow prior to application - This is good practice when using any chemical, no matter how good your spray application, a proportion of the product will remain on the leaf, giving the Active Ingredient a chance to get absorbed into the plant or washed of into the profile will only help.
  4. Apply at 0.6L/Ha in 600L of water using 08 XC nozzles at 2 - 4 bar - Good sprayer set-up will move higher proportions of the product off the leaf and into the lower profile of the sward where it can wait to be washed into the soil profile.
  5. Irrigate immediately afterwards - For Acelepryn to work at it's best it needs to be in contact with the target pest. Cranefly lay their eggs fairly high up in the soil profile however Chafers can lay there eggs very deep. Match the amount of irrigation to the area of soil you are targeting.
  6. Apply with wetting agent if needed - Using wetting agent to help move the product into the soil profile will only add value if the soil profile is dry or hydrophobic. Most surfaces being treated with Acelepryn are already under a wetting agent program and will need no additional help.
  7. Delay mowing until after rainfall or irrigation - the more product you can get to the target area the better results you'll get, give it every chance you can by not removing any, if you do need to mow then returning the clipping improves the amount of reaching the target.
