Primo Maxx BIGGA Webinar

Last week I did a webinar on Plant Growth Regulators's for BIGGA which appears to have got people looking at their turf care programs.

If you missed it BIGGA have been good enough to let us have open access for all to to see. Here it is ...

One of the interesting things for me in it came out of the PGR article I've just put together for Greenkeeper international in which I took a pretty indepth look at Primo longevity.

The longevity of Primo Maxx is heavily related to temperature - the warmer it is the less longevity you get. Increasing the rate will have a small impact on how long it lasts but it's far more efficient to vary the length of application windows than rate.

In the presentation I talked about two hypothetical situations a 14 day application window and a 150 GDD application window.

Whilst the 14 day windows sound like a very organised person and the kind of Course Manager I aspired to be - they're probably only hitting their optimum timings for a couple of months in the summer months.

But worse than that they are probably running the risk of moving into rebound issues or layering up applications (both of which are also really useful strategies - if additional suppression or a burst of growth is your desired outcome).
