Nozzle Knowledge. Syngenta XC Nozzle Knowledge

Knowing your nozzles is always important, but with crane fly treatment options and autumn disease management applications just over the horizon, it's a great time to give this vital area some extra thought.

Syngenta XC Nozzle Knowledge

The top tip for boom sprayers is have a three way bayonet fitted, allowing you to quickly rotate to the nozzle you need for the job.

The other tip is each nozzle has “Syngenta” written on one side and a little “triangle nub” (can’t describe that any better sorry) you can see me pointing at it in the photo above. These two want to be facing forward on the sprayer.

To correctly align the orifice angle for best spray application.

So, standing behind the sprayer you shouldn’t be able to read Syngenta on any nozzle, just the XC info.

More information on the XC nozzles here.

We would suggest having one of each of the below fitted which will cover most sprays you need on turf, without the need to remove and replace each nozzle every time.

White nozzles – Soil

XC 08 have the largest orifice size, and so have can deliver the highest water volume of the three nozzles above.

The king of nozzles for Acelepryn and Nematrident F applications in October (ideally last two weeks).

Always refer back to your nozzle charts to get recommendations for speeds and pressures to get the best performance.

Anything you want in the soil, and not to stay on the grass leaf blade, white XC nozzles would be our pick.

Red – Foliar

XC 04 – Good all rounder for foliar sprays.

Purple – Foliar

For the best coverage on greens think the purple XC 025 nozzles.

Yes you need to go slower and lower pressure, but if you have limited applications and you need to get the most from each spray, any improvement in coverage will assist with disease control.

Do look at your nozzle charts, but as a ready reckoner:

We’ll have a pedestrian sprayer on the Syngenta stand (G150) at SALTEX to talk nozzle choice, so do come along any ask any questions you may have of the team while we’re there!

It’s great having these larger than life nozzles so you can see the different features which make this technology so special.

More on the all important Art of Application in this article, any time invested in this space will pay dividends in the long run!
