June FAQs 2022

Chafers

Lots of questions about chafer ID's this month - the Welsh Chafer seems to have been a particular favorite in my Whatsapp inbox this month. That could be a climatic thing or an unfamiliarity thing. Not sure?

PestTracker sightings for Chafer have been particularly low this year but followed the normal pattern, the timings of Acelepryn are really important for Chafer as well as LeatherJackets so can I please ask all of you to engage and log sightings - it all helps to guide application timings and also assists when it comes to building cases to justify product authorisations.

I've also been asked a few times on Acelepryn bottle sizes this year, which has been a another of the 2022 logistical challenges and Dan has put a blog together on the challenges involved in that one.

Dollar spot

The weather conditions have been mounting through June and are getting close to optimum for Dollar spot development in some areas.

The Smith-Kerns-model showing some petty high pressure, I put this blog together last year and in this months "On the horizon" myself and Henry go into some depth on this model.

The bottom line is humidity is the biggest driver of this problem and with such droughted soils around the country we should be thinking about how to manage the problem now.

Anthracnose

The pressure continues to mount and Sean has put a blog together to look at some of the strategies we can put in place to help us manage the problem.

The stresses are all combining - moisture, heat and compounding management stresses from mowers and greens preparation techniques.

Myself and Henry have gone into some depth on these combinations in Junes On the Horizon.
