Timing is critical when it comes to applying Acelepryn and NemaTrident to control leatherjackets on your turf. This is made very clear on the label where it states the application must be made at peak flight.

Having worked with Acelepryn for number of years, my recommendation is to closely monitor cranefly flight patterns logging those sightings on PestTracker, which is an excellent tool that’s helped us understand the flight patterns of craneflies across the UK.

The flight patterns can be sporadic, and although there are days where we see a massive exodus of craneflies, they can hatch over a long period from mid-August well into October. Picking an optimum  application timing is therefore tricky, it is worthwhile leaning on our trial data to understand when to get the best out of the application.

Our experience and data shows that, consistently, applications made around the middle of October, which is right at the end of peak flight, provide the best results. To achieve optimal timing, take the time to familiarise yourself with PestTracker, monitor the flight patterns closely, and bookmark a slot in your dairy for mid-October.

Don’t forget that timing also matters for NemaTrident applications. Plan your application ahead of time and ensure that you have everything ready to apply after your Acelepryn, but whilst we still have soil temperatures of above 8°C forecast for at least two weeks to achieve the best results.

You can set the new Turf Advisor app to have temperatures displayed at the top of your dashboard through this period, to keep an eye on the forecast.
