Spring has sprung

Whichever way you cut it, Spring has sprung. The 'astronomical' start of spring is 20th March and Easter and and all the chocolate that brings has come and gone. Some would consider the first Primo application the start of spring...

Spring and the first application of Primo Maxx

I had a great trip to Ireland last week to update dealers on Acelepryn (more on that for the UK in future blogs!) hence the sun bathing leatherjacket above.

I got to visit some really well presented playing surfaces and some amazing courses, but what really struck me when driving around was the amount of yellow (mainly dandelion and daffodil) and white (daisy) flowers in bloom along all the roadside verges, natures way of saying « move over winter ».

 

GDD

Whilst the risk of cold nights doesn’t completely pass for a while yet, we can see some consistent warmth in the daily temperatures.

Most people I speak to have eased into Primo by now to make sure we make the most of that new season growth, in terms of thickening the sward instead of filling mower boxes.

If we’re aiming to fill in light disease scaring left over from troubled times, a PGR (plant growth regulator) like primo is going to encourage more lateral growth and tillering at a time when the grass is only thinking upwards, so its a great tool to have available.
