Application Quiz – LERAP

We've worked with ICL to develop an Online quiz (link here) to help support you guys and girls out there spraying - in this blog series I intend to go through each question, give you an in depth answer and a few useful links.

What is a LERAP assessment?

  • An assessment that must always be undertaken when you spray
  • An assessment that must be undertaken should you wish to reduce the buffer zone stated on the label
  • An assessment to ensure operator safety
  • A pesticide stock check

A buffer zone is the safe distance you are permitted to apply a product from a water course. A LERAP assessment only needs to be undertaken if you wish to reduce the buffer zone stated on the label.

It involves introducing methods to reduce the risk of drift and eliminating the chance of pesticides reaching the water. The methods involved can include using LERAP rated nozzles and dose rate reductions.

Not all products Buffer zones are eligible for a buffer zone reduction under the LERAP scheme and this will be clearly stated on the label.

All completed LERAP assessments must be kept on file for 3 years from date of spray operation.
