Between record rainfall figures and unprecedented turf growth 2023 has had its highs and lows.
The Open at Royal Liverpool feels like a life time ago now, with the sharp end of that weather front, and it’s hard to even remember the 2022 drought and heat wave!

Fairy ring
I did a blog on fairy ring at the end of July which was the most read of the year.

It’s a complicated disease caused by a collection of different fungi which is really challenging to manage which is why I think this blog got so much interest.
That and with more and more drone shot photography fairy ring is something which really can stand out visually on the course.
I’ll do some more blogs on fairy ring next year as there is so much to get into.
Primo Maxx II
Lots of blogs on the subject of plant growth regulators (PGRs). Primo is an important part of many peoples programs as it helps them deliver the turf quality they desire.
Two blogs on Primo got a combined total of over a thousand reads in 2023:
More to come in this space, its an area where most are constantly tweaking and trying to optimise rates, start times and intervals so will continue to be relevant.

We finally had our full approval for Acelepryn this year, so it’s no surprise a blog on how to get the best out of it made the most wanted list.

GP – Growth Potential not Dr
With it only written on the 11th December I was surprised to see this blog so high up the list. It shows the interest in getting data to support our turf management decisions.
Turf Advisor is going to be a great tool to help us see this data in real time in 2024 so again more to come here.
Getting to grips with Growth Potential
Time for me to get training for the 5K run at BTME now, hope to see many faces there!
Thank you to all those who take the time to read and support the blog, had some great insights and conversations when on courses this year and discussing agronomic issues with many of you.
I’ll be looking to build more trial work into 2024 to see how we can adjust programs and practices to get the best pest and disease control we can.
