{"id":1096,"date":"2020-09-30T09:31:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-30T09:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/blog\/filling-fungicide-gap-fr321\/"},"modified":"2022-06-20T06:24:51","modified_gmt":"2022-06-20T06:24:51","slug":"filling-fungicide-gap-fr321","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/nor\/blog\/filling-fungicide-gap-fr321\/","title":{"rendered":"Filling the gap &#8211; Introducing FR321"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fungicide programmes feel a little stretched this year and I thought you&#8217;d be interested to see why I&#8217;m recommending a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/product\/turf-management\/fungicide\/heritage-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heritage WG<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/product\/turf-management\/fungicide\/medallion-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Medallion<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/product\/turf-management\/pigment\/ryder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ryder<\/a> tank mix to fill the gap.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/news\/disease-control\/mix-masters-difficult-disease-conditions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FR321 is a great tank mix<\/a> with a good quantity of both systemic and contact fungicide with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The proven plant health benefits of Heritage<\/li><li>The spore knockdown qualities of Medallion <\/li><li>and<\/li><li>The turf quality and colour benefits of Ryder<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/turf-disease\/microdochium-fusarium-patch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;Fuz season&#8221;<\/a> quickly sneaking up on us, many of you are looking at your autumn disease ITM strategies and how you incorporate your fungicide applications into them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The concept is pretty simple, if turf is growing strongly then use a systemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If growth is minimal use a contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we take a look at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/growing-degree-days\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Growth degree day figures<\/a> for 2018 you can see that the reality is slightly more complex. We don&#8217;t move from good growth, to no growth overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-17-1024x542.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4282\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>During periods of strong growth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/product\/turf-management\/fungicide\/heritage-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heritage<\/a> is my go to product<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During periods of low growth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/product\/turf-management\/fungicide\/medallion-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Medallion<\/a> is my go to product<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the in between periods then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/product\/turf-management\/fungicide\/instrata-elite\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instrata Elite<\/a> is the way to go because of its two active ingredients &#8211; one systemic, one contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The challenge here is that this period of &#8220;inbetween&#8221; seems to be getting longer! With ground frost already seen around the UK this September, along with potential for growth well past Christmas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instrata Elite has two applications on the label, which in some areas of the country and \/ or for courses with high disease pressure, just isn&#8217;t enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we wish to rotate chemistry and ensure that elongated period is covered, we need something else to fill the gap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I&#8217;m helping turf managers put programmes together, here&#8217;s my gap filler and some trial data to support it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>Heritage WG @ 0.3Kg\/Ha<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>Medallion @ 2L\/Ha<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><em>Ryder @1L\/Ha<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-1-1024x592.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4206\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-4-1024x580.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4209\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In the two trials above, both in the &#8216;inbetween&#8217; conditions, the combination of the Heritage and the Medallion gave us stronger results than the individual products by themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-2-1024x554.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4207\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-5-1024x562.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4210\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, by adding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/product\/turf-management\/pigment\/ryder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ryder<\/a> into the mix during this period of slowing growth in this trial, we gained an increase in turf quality and this is something that more turf managers are seeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-3-1024x549.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4208\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-6-1024x569.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4211\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The last and probably the expected benefit of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/product\/turf-management\/pigment\/ryder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ryder<\/a> is the uplift in colour that we see and at this time of year the longevity of the product is significant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencast.co.uk\/news\/disease-control\/mix-masters-difficult-disease-conditions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This tank mix will be available very soon as the FR321 one box solution.<\/a> Looking to fill that Autumn gap, FR321 is a great fit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fungicide programmes feel a little stretched this year and I thought you&#8217;d be interested to see why I&#8217;m recommending a Heritage WG, Medallion and Ryder tank mix to fill the gap.
