Application Quiz – Nozzle cleaning

We’ve worked with ICL to develop an Online quiz (link here) to help support you guys and girls out there spraying – in this blog series I intend to go through each question, give you an in depth answer and a few useful links.

How often should nozzles be cleaned?

  • Weekly
  • Every time they are used
  • Annually
  • Never

The amount of cleaning necessary is related to the quality of products used and the amount they are used. Generally modern high-quality nozzles wear much slower than people expect. More issues are caused by dirty nozzles or damaged nozzles than worn ones. Keeping nozzles clean is critical to optimum performance and I would recommend soaking them in a spray tank cleaner after use and thorough checking to ensure they are undamaged after every use.

If one nozzle is damaged then normal practice to replace the set, however a full measuring test of all nozzles would indicate if that was necessary.
