Just click the link below. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-spotify wp-block-embed-spotify wp-embed-aspect-21-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\r\n<iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: Summer at last - but where are the chafers?\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"152\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/episode\/0zIWJih6DB1ECJNUYb5rNs?utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe>\r\n<\/div><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I expect like Cranefly this year&rsquo;s cold Spring has delayed the hatch but now we&rsquo;re into some sustained temperatures I expect the sightings to increase over the next few weeks.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>2019 we&rsquo;d had <strong>41<\/strong> reported sightings, 2020 we&rsquo;d had <strong>35<\/strong> and this year we&rsquo;ve had <strong>13<\/strong>. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Please report any sightings on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.syngentaturf.co.uk\/turf-pest-tracker\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PestTracker<\/a> whether you intend to treat or not to help the rest of the industry. I suspect the timings for effective treatments this year will be early July but without your support it&rsquo;s tricky to tell.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image-7.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5758\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5753\"\/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">But did we see the flush of cranefly activity that I was expecting?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In short &#8211; No!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5751\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>What we have seen in 2021 is a much more sustained long period of reported sightings &#8211; to date in 2021 you&rsquo;ve reported <strong>134<\/strong> sightings but at this point in 2020 you&rsquo;d reported <strong>120<\/strong> and in 2019 &#8211; <strong>119<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Similar numbers each year just a more sustained hatch pattern in 2021 than previously and I suspect thats influenced by this years very cold April and May.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greencastadvisory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5755\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Looking at the areas they hatch the reports are more dominant in the warmer areas of the country.
